Hip hop artist, actor, film producer and poet Common is also very involved in the community and being a part of the catalyst that keeps it flourishing. With his organization, the Common Ground Foundation, Common is able to give back in a big way.
The mission of the group is “To empower high school students to become future leaders through programs focused on character development, healthy living, financial literacy, and creative expression.”
Common calls on community leaders and professionals to help encourage the youth involved in the foundation.
Last but not least thank you to @roycedavoyce of @ChicagoPD for stopping by and speaking to our students about God given talents and feeding their gifts. It's always great for the youth to hear from someone who comes from their neighborhoods and can relate to what they may go through living in Chicago. #BePowerful
Common launched CGF in order to, simply put, “help,” he shares on the foundation’s website. “Most of all help people to help themselves. I always believed that if we started with the youth then we would be planting the seeds for our future to blossom. Give the children a sense of hope, self-esteem, and love that will better the world…I think making a difference in the lives of others is life’s greatest purpose. I walk this path with faith knowing that the Common Ground Foundation will Change the World.”
